GEORGE HARFORD
OWNER AND WINE MAKER
George Harford is the owner and operator of Backyard Vines, LLC and has been in the industry for over 12 years making and modifying his recipes to create the perfect wines. He has sent in his wines to the Iowa State Fair for the Amateur Oenology and received the Silver Award for his "Reliance" and Bronze Award for his "I Can't Believe It's Not Red" wines in 2022. Since this event, George and his wife DeVonne have been working hard to be able to offer these amazing wines to the general public to share in George's passion.
Backyard Vines, LLC is a small batch winery just outside of the small town of Traer, Iowa. Most of the grapes used in George's winemaking are made from the grapes that he grows and cares for on his small acreage. George started with only about a dozen Concord grape vines and he has perfected his grape crop over the years. George now grows and cares for several different grape varieties.
